Welcome Message from Leslie Gonzales
Dear EPSP Community Members,
It is such a privilege to welcome all of you to Spring 2024. I am new to the University of Arizona and now serve as Professor and Department Head in EPSP.
As you will learn more about in this fun video featuring me and Dr. Gary Rhoades (EPSP’s former and famous Department Head!), I come to the U after serving on Michigan State’s faculty for nearly 9 years, Clemson University’s faculty for 5 years and with degrees from two Hispanic Serving Institutions: New Mexico Highlands University and University of Texas at El Paso.
With the beautiful mountainous and desert landscapes and with family in New Mexico and Texas, coming to the University of Arizona is like coming home. Moreover, I have always aspired to return to a Hispanic Serving Institution. HSIs raised me, intellectually speaking, and I am both grateful and excited about the opportunity to pay it forward and elevate the meaningful work of our students, staff, and faculty.
