Faculty & Staff Spotlights

School Psychology

A credit to her profession and our college, Assistant Professor of Practice Marsha Spencer was just named School Psychologist of the Year by the Arizona Association of School Psychologists. Professor and Department Head Carl Liaupsin adds, “I have first-hand knowledge of her ability to approach program leadership with a rare mix of transparency, efficiency, and compassion.”

Assistant Professor Vega received big-screen recognition from President Robbins at the Washington State vs UA men’s basketball game. She was named as an Arizona Champion for her work as a faculty member in education who advocates for the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students.

Psychologist and adjunct faculty member Paula McCall is the brainchild behind Prepared Parenting, an annual event in Chandler, Arizona, aimed at helping parents and children overcome anxiety and depression. Many of our second-year school psychology graduate students presented break-out sessions at the event. Additional school psychology faculty supported students by supervising the preparation of break-out sessions.

McCall also managed to coordinate multiple vendors and sponsors so the event could be offered free of charge to the community.

Phoenix’s ABC affiliate covered the Prepared Parenting event.
